Logano Ready To Build off Recent Richmond Success

The 2014 TOYOTA OWNERS 400 winner is ready for a weekend off before getting back to business

Joey Logano, driver of the No. 22 Penske Racing Ford, was one of just two drivers at Wednesday's test session who are all but locked into the 2015 Chase field. The 2014 TOYOTA OWNERS 400 winner and 2015 TOYOTA OWNERS 400 pole sitter had some time to talk about how Richmond has become one of his stronger tracks in recent years.

"I think a few years back I understood what it takes to make one of these Sprint Cup cars go fast on short tracks," said Logano. "Now I look at (Richmond) as one of the tracks I look forward to coming to, but it hasn't been before that."

But don't expect him to share how he's figure out America's Premier Short Track.

"I can't tell you!" said Logano when asked. "It took me seven years to figure it out, you think I'm going to tell you right now?"

Like most of the other Cup drivers, Logano plans to soak in some serious "R&R" during the off weekend, and spoke about how important these kind of breaks are during the grueling NASCAR season.

“You run out of gas almost every day, and you don't really get a break in this business,” said Logano. "When you've got to race every single week you can't take a day off. You work every day and that's the only way you're successful. So it's nice to have these off weekends, we make sure to enjoy them and relax a little bit."

His plans? Logano said he's hitting up Southern California this weekend for some vacation before making and appearance with AAA in Los Angeles.

But if the OC isn't exactly a drive down the road for you, come watch Logano try and gather momentum for the 2015 Chase for the NASCAR Sprint Cup at Richmond on Saturday, September 12. The entire Sprint Cup Series return to for the Federated Auto Parts 400. Come see who’s in and who’s out.
