Charities Clean Up at Richmond International Raceway's NASCAR Foundation Car Wash for Kids

Car Wash

Richmond International Raceway staff and volunteers washed nearly 200 cars at the car wash

Nearly 200 fans came out to Richmond International Raceway yesterday for the track’s first NASCAR Foundation Car Wash for Kids. For a $15 donation, guests received a car wash, two paced laps around the track in their vehicle and a NASCAR Unites wristband.

Approximately $3,000 in donations will be distributed among Junior Achievement of Central Virginia, Richmond International Raceway CARES—the track’s charitable account and The NASCAR Foundation, which is committed to children’s causes and, through its NASCAR Unites campaign, has vowed to raise $1 million and generate one million volunteer hours this year.

More than 30 locations have participated in the NASCAR Foundation’s Car Wash for Kids, raising nearly $30,000 for children’s charities and accumulating 2,000 volunteer hours.

“This was a great event for all of us at Richmond International Raceway,” said track president Doug Fritz. “Being able to support a children’s charity right here in our community is very important to us. We know the funds raised for Junior Achievement of Central Virginia, The NASCAR Foundation and Richmond International Raceway CARES will go a long way in improving the lives of our children.”

“The NASCAR Foundation is grateful for the support of the tracks and locations that participated in this first-year effort,” said Sandy Marshall, executive director of The NASCAR Foundation. “Without the help of the industry as a whole, supporting thousands of children with medical treatment, once-in-a-lifetime camping experiences and fulfilling NASCAR dreams would not be possible.”

NASCAR returns to Richmond International Raceway September 9-10 for a NASCAR Doubleheader.
