Chase University Returns to Richmond Raceway for Fall NASCAR Race Weekend

Richmond Raceway and Chase Elliott are partnering once again to bring the unique race day experience, Chase University, back to America’s Premier Short Track. For $24, college students get a ticket to the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series race on Saturday, September 9 with an exclusive pre-race party and an appearance by the driver of the No. 24 himself, Chase Elliott.

“It’s great to see Richmond Raceway step up again and offer such a great package for college students,” said Hendrick Motorsports driver Chase Elliott. “Hooters is bringing the food, the track is bringing the entertainment and we’re taking it all to the students in their own tailgate area, just for $24. That’s as good as it gets and I hope to see a lot of fans ready for what will be one of the most dramatic races of the season.”

Chase U was created by Elliott in October 2016, and has been a success with college students around the country. The special college program has all the elements of a perfect race day experience, with music, food and beverages, and tailgate games. College students were introduced to the program at Richmond in April for the first time.

“We welcome one of the brightest young drivers in motorsports, Chase Elliott, and the ChaseU program back to Richmond Raceway for our fall race weekend,” said Richmond President Dennis Bickmeier. “With several top-notch higher education institutions in our backyard, we will once again offer the best race day experience to college students. ChaseU at Richmond Raceway is the perfect way for students to kick off the fall semester.”

Previously held in Turn 3 in April, Chase U will move to its new home in the Group Tailgate lot located beside Lot D. The new location provides an exciting pre-race tailgate for students. Available to all college students with a valid student ID, the package includes a grandstand ticket and access to the pre-race tailgate area. The tailgate will include food and beverage, games, music, and an appearance by Chase Elliott. To purchase this package or for more information, visit

Chase Elliott and NASCAR return to Richmond Raceway for two nights of racing “under the lights” on September 8-9. The fall race weekend, presented by Who’s Your Driver, will see history on display as Dale Earnhardt Jr. makes his final, career, two-race appearance as a driver.

The weekend gets started on Friday, September 8, with on-track practice for both series and the U.S. Department of Veteran Affairs Pole Qualifying for both weekend races. The action then dials up as the rising stars of tomorrow compete in the Virginia529 College Savings 250 NASCAR XFINITY Series race at 7:30 p.m.

On Saturday, September 9 at 7:30 p.m., the sport’s best take to the track for the Federated Auto Parts 400 Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series race as NASCAR crowns its Regular Season Champion.

Tickets are available now for both races and can be purchased online at or by calling the Richmond Ticket Office, toll-free, at 866-455-7223.

It just doesn’t get any better than Richmond Raceway. It’s the ultimate in short-track racing, and doesn’t get any more exciting than that. This is where my first victory came. Richmond is always going to be special for me.”
