Brian Scott Keeps it Fresh
Brian Scott talks about testing at RIR, and how it's become one of his favorite tracks

Brian Scott, driver of the No. 2 Richard Childress Racing Chevrolet in the NASCAR XFINITY Series, participated in Sprint Cup Series testing yesterday at Richmond International Raceway. Scott, who has won two XFINITY Series poles at RIR, is best known for his heartbreaking close win here in 2013. That race alone he led a dominating 239 of 250 laps in route to a second place finish.
“Richmond has been a great track for me in the XFINITY Series. We’ve gotten the pole here a couple of times, led a lot of laps. We’ve been heartbreakingly close to winning here,” said Scott. “It’s become one of my favorite tracks.”
At one point in his career, RIR was statistically his worst track, but now it’s his best. Scott now looks forward to racing “under the lights” at RIR. And, having this opportunity to test in a Sprint Cup car here is an added bonus.
“Any time you get seat time, any time you get track time, and any time you get to work with Goodyear, and work on different tire compounds, it’s helpful,” said Scott. “It’s helpful when you come back here, but it’s helpful to just keep you fresh.”
Keeping fresh is key when Scott and the rest of the NASCAR XFINITY Series return to Richmond on Friday, September 11.
